About
Allison Wootton, TVI
Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Twenty-plus years of students, teams, and families — and one conviction: the curriculum belongs to every student.
The work
Two decades of opening classrooms.
With over 20 years of experience in special education, I provide comprehensive vision education services to students with visual impairments across San Diego County and remote districts. My approach combines evidence-based instructional strategies with compassionate, student-centered care.
I believe every student deserves access to curriculum regardless of visual ability. Through assistive technology, adapted materials, and specialized instruction, I help students achieve independence and academic success.
I work with the full range of visual impairment — including students with cortical visual impairment (CVI), students using AAC, and multi-disability caseloads where vision is one piece of a complex picture.
Why “Vision Ed Connect”
Because the job is connection. Between a student and their curriculum. Between a district and the specialist it couldn't find. Between a family and the resources it didn't know existed. The name is the mission.

How I work with districts
A specialist who makes your team stronger, not dependent.
Direct service
Scheduled instruction with students — Braille, assistive technology, expanded core curriculum — with progress documented against IEP goals.
Consultation
Coaching for teachers, aides, and therapists so access continues between my visits. The measure of good consultation is a team that needs less of it.
Assessment & reporting
FVAs and LMAs written for real decision-making — findings, recommendations, and rationale your IEP team can stand behind.
Remote delivery
Every service above, delivered over secure video with materials prepared in advance — built for districts without a local TVI.
Let's talk about your students.
Whether you have one student who needs a TVI or a caseload that's outgrown your staffing, the next step is a conversation.
